In November, I shared a recipe for Easy Weeknight Chili.
I love this recipe because it’s delicious but not elaborate…and reminds me of the chili I ate as a kid.
Both of my parents worked outside the home and even though my mom didn’t enjoy cooking much (she still doesn’t!), we had a homemade meal every night and almost always ate dinner as a family. This chili is great for busy families because it doesn’t require a lot of time, effort or fancy ingredients. It can be prepared and on the table in less than an hour.
While the meals I cook for myself now and share with y’all on The Daily Domestic are a bit more involved, I’m still very inspired by the simple, home cooked meals from my childhood.
I love the special memories that certain foods illicit. And a hearty, homemade batch of chili topped with all the fixings gives me all the feels!
With the Superbowl just around the corner, I’m sharing my favorite Homemade Chili Seasoning Mix so you can whip but a delicious batch of chili to enjoy on game day.
While you can use my recipe for Easy Weeknight Chili, I prefer to use this seasoning when I have extra time to make a slow simmering pot of chili.
It’s smoky, flavorful, spicy. This recipe is great anytime but comes just in time for game day and pairs perfectly with football, friends and beer!
- 1/4 cup Flour
- 3 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon instant coffee
- 1/4 teaspoon all spice
- 1/4 teaspoon corriander
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Add ingredients to a bowl and mix to combine. Transfer and store in an air tight jar.
Note: Use 1-2 tablespoons of seasoning ix per 1 lb of ground beef.
